Although there are a few good pop songs out there, I find todays generic pop boring and overplayed. Most pop songs these days are about wild partying, getting drunk, etc. and other boring topics. To this day with technology, anyone can become a famous pop singer if they want. Real music takes talent. If you can sing well, write good lyrics, and play an instrument, then you have talent, and deserve to be well known. If you can sing half decent, and know how to use auto-tune like thousands of other people, but that's it, I don't see a reason for you to be making millions of dollars. Secondly, many pop artists don't even write their own music. Most of these artists pay someone to write their own songs, and make their own beats. Which takes no talent to do. Thirdly, pop music only talks about the stuff they do, not the stuff they feel. As many artists have said, it is the most important thing to them to have their fans relate to their music. Artists love knowing their fans will have a sense of comfort from relating to their music.
“So this is for every kid who all's they ever did was dreamt of one day just getting accepted, I represent him or her, anyone similar, you are the reason that I made this song. And everything you're scared to say don't be afraid to say no more.” - Eminem, Guts Over Fear. Life isn't about partying and rap and rock prove that point, As a matter of fact, rap is more widely accepted even though it's not in the mainstream. Lastly, live pop performances aren't live. People think that lip-synching is acceptable, but you’re wasting hundreds of dollars on watching someone dance around the stage to a CD. “But that’s not the pop star’s fault – it’s impossible to dance like that and sing at the same time!” To me thats just not good talent, and its not right to watch your favourite singer lip-sync at a “live” performance. In addition to this, I think todays society changed the definition of the word “band”. Music. (Dictionary.com)
Pop music has made it acceptable to call 5 guys who can sing, but can't play any instrument, a band. In my opinion a band must have instruments that are played in songs, and a singer who doesn't need autotune to sell albums.

“On my honor, I will never betray my badge, my integrity, my character, or the public trust. I will always have the courage to hold myself and others accountable for our actions” This Oath of Honor is known to all Law Enforcement Officers in New York city. Officers that protect us from criminals, whos duty is to keep us safe from any kind of harm. It is sad that over the past few months their word has been questioned, and their jobs had been taken away from them. Because police officers in the US, along with Canada don't wear cameras, many questions remain unanswered over moral rights, racism and political issues all over North America. With no cameras, and no proof, there are always two sides to a story, the victim’s side, the officers side. Unfortunately it has been proven that we cannot trust all police officers say in most cases. All moral, racial questions regarding the officers actions on all citizens will be answered with one camera. Since August, more then 150,000 people have signed a petition urging that all state, county and local police be required to wear a camera. New Yorks Mayor. Bill de Blasio,is speeding up a plan to equipt nearly all New York Police officers with body cameras. Although this is only one city, this is a step closer. Of course, with these cameras it creates some problems with the officers. Some view these cameras as supervision because they are untrusted, and others just don't want to be watched for privacy reasons. For the good of the community I believe police officers should have to be equipped with a body camera that records as long as they are working. this will prevent any problems involving distrust.
Waist Time
In The United States people spent 121 billion minutes on Social Media sites in July,2014 alone, according to Nielsen's annual Social Media report. That's 388 minutes or 6 and a half hours per person. Altogether, that's 230,060 years we spent staring into the glaring screen of so called sharing, instead of going outside. In the USA alone, people spend roughly 20 percent of their time on personal computers, and 30 percent of our time on our mobile devices doing the same. Pretend To Be People We Are Not Social Media users distort, or “stretch the truth” about their lives to create the illusion that their lives are better than what they might be. These sites don’t accurately represente of our lives, beliefs, likes, and struggles. They aren’t representative of our humanness. And it surely distorts our reality, not just about others, or others about us, but also how we view ourselves. Distracts Us From Real Work The math above says is all. We wasting hours on an activity that has been shown to decrease self esteem, and cultivate undesirable feelings like jealousy and envy. This distracts us from doing the stuff we actually like, and benefits us. We squander our time to feel some short-term, shallow variation of connectedness and meaning. Makes Us Self Centered Social Media trains us to make snap judgments about others, as well as our own self-worth in context of who we paint others to be. User’s main focus is to make their lives seem better, whether it’s that onetime special event they posted, how many followers/friends they have, or how may likes they get, its the only thing that matters. Decreases Happiness According to a 2012 study posted on the National Institutes of Health website, "Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD) ruins lives by causing neurological complications, psychological disturbances, and social problems." It is still not officially listed as a mental disorder. Though many studies have shown that social media causes envy and jealousy may people still continue to use and join them. Whether those prone to depression are drawn to social media or vice versa, numerous medical studies indicate that social media may exacerbate your major emotions, including unhappiness, depression, and sadness. Causes Mental Problems According to several recent brain imaging studies, severely affected Internet addicts show structural and functional brain abnormalities similar to those found in people with substance abuse problems. Other research has shown that Internet addiction frequently coexists with anxiety, depression, or an addiction to other things like alcohol or drugs. Along with causing depression and other mental disorders. Cyber-bullying The immediacy provided by social media is available to predators as well as friends. Kids especially are open to cyber-bullying, where the bully can anonymously pose as people their victims trust, or terrorize individuals in front of their peers. These online attacks can leave deep mental scars, and leave kids skeptical of who they trust. In several well-publicized cases, victims have even been driven to suicide. Cyber-bullying has spread widely among youth, with 42% reporting that they have been victims, according to a 2014 CBS News report. No Privacy Social networking sites encourage people to be more public about their personal lives. Because their intimate details of their lives can be posted so easily, users don’t use the filters they might normally engage when talking about their private lives. These intimate posts also remain online forever. Not to mention inappropriate pictures taken at a party, where the image may appear less attractive by employer doing a background check. While most sites allow their users to control who sees the things they've posted, such limitations are often forgotten. In my opinion a perfect high school would involve no homework, later starting bells, and practical learning skills. I believe these are some of the reasons as to why kids hate school so much. Firstly, without homework I think students wouldn't have half the amount of stress they regularly have. We already spend 6 hours in school, and to have to do more work when we leave school is unpractical. Without homework students would finally have time for a social life, along with outside activities like sports, and clubs. Along with that, students are not getting the right amount of help needed to complete the homework that had been assigned. This then leads to frustration, and conflicts in families.” Homework stresses the family, Over 90 percent of kids say their parents are involved in their homework” In addition, studies have shown homework makes no academic improvements. In fact, Duke University’s study concluded that homework does not increase achievement and it often decreases it instead. Secondly, the starting bells need to change to a later time. Over time, sleep deprivation leads to serious consequences for academic achievement, social behavior, and the health and safety of our nation's youth. A good sleep has shown that attendance goes up, teen depression goes down, and fewer student drivers get into car crashes. Along with that, adolescents who get enough sleep have a reduced risk of being overweight. Lastly, schools should teach skills that students will be able to use in real life, or in a workplace. Kids should be learning how to apply for a job, negotiation skills, survival skills, money management, Ect. Teaching kids’ useful information and skills will make them more interested in school, and will prepare them for the real world. Not only do these skills affect them, but it affects the world in the fact that our new generation is undereducated in real world skills. These reasons are some of the few that I would want changed to make to the “perfect” high school. I believe my reasons appeal to most students, and will increase how many students actually like school. |
